Hey guys, I've been really busy with my job lately and haven't been on here much, but we will be having a family reunion in Nazareth, PA (one of my sisters lives there) next week and I was wondering if you guys thought it is worth visiting the Martin guitar factory? I've never been there before I'd that makes any difference...

Thanks for your input!

The factory tour and museum are great. Even if you're not a big Martin fan, it's just cool to see their process and their collection of vintage pieces is really amazing. Also, get down to the old factory that houses the guitar makers connection. I've scored some great tone wood very inexpensively from them.

If I was in the area I would have to stop in. Would even pay for a tour. I've always loved Martins. My mother bought a 000-18 in 1963 when I was in the service. When I got out in 66 I sorta kinda stole it for about 15 years maybe more. I gave it back to her in 81. Boy was she ever happy. She maybe plays it once a year if that. So sure I'd go.

There are two tours: The short one and the long one. If you have time and can catch it at the right time of day, the longer tour goes to more places in the factory. I enjoyed it a great deal.

I was in the area last year and took the tour - I would recommend it.

Is there any type of reservation needed? Online it says the tours are 1 hour worth no reservations needed, is that considered the long or the short tour?

I will be out there about noon. The long tour is no longer free and you must pay for that.
The museum is a must see, as is the old factory up on North street

Definitely!! I went there a couple years ago and loved it. They give a great tour
Be sure to visit the 1833 shop around the corner too. The very nice ladies there set me up with some great bridges and fingerboards....2nd quality rejects but still very nice and a great price

The standard tour is the short tour , Martin employees will take you through the factory and you will get to see the Martin production floor and see the processes. On the long tour , this you must schedule but they will do it on a walk in basis if people are available. This is more detailed. I think they charge $20 . You not only see the production but you get into the wood storage facility , the sawmill and grading. It is more detailed.
There are vids on you tube that are from the Martin company.
